Internet Security 2011

I have been buying and using Norton products since the advent of the XTs in the mid 80's. Recently my laptop shuts down when doing a full scan. I suspect a problem with Internet Security 2011. I have installed NIS2011 on 3 computers.

I am not willing to upgrade to NIS2012 at this point.

Can I do an uninstall of NIS2011 and reinstall or will that be considered a 4 computer?

Please advise.

Removal from a current licensed system and reinstall on the same system will not count as an addtional install.

Re: Internet Security 2011

Rather than using an old disc or download, the latest download for 2011 is here.  It will minimize the number of updates that have to be done.

Re: Internet Security 2011

Thank both of you for responding.

That being said:

Turns out that Nortons full scan was overheating my laptop.

I have been a Norton client for 20+ years. After finding my problem online myself and reading about all the problems with Norton's newest products I have become disenchanted with Norton. I should have left years ago.

Too much BLOAT.

ONLY about the money.

I AM DONE WITH NORTON.

Re: Internet Security 2011

keyedup,

As a fellow customer, I am sorry you feel that way, but can understand that you have to watch every penny these days and if you feel you have been burned (no pun intended), then it may be time for a change.

I almost said something after your original post about your system possibly being hung on a compressed file and thus causing it to time out.  Perhaps that may have led to your overheat  problem.

If the problem just started recently and you have been running successful scans with NIS 2011 up until now, the problem would seem to me more likely to be with the laptop's cooling system - maybe just dirty vents from a buildup of dust over time?
