Internet Security Settings password feature

I just installed the 2012 version of the software so maybe someone can help me.  I set up passwords for accessing the settings and also for Identity Safe.  This morning I was in Internet Explorer using Identity Safe and having some problems so I clicked on the Settings shortcut in the Internet explorer toolbar and it took me right into the Internet Security Settings without asking for my password.  I was shocked.  Is anyone aware of this problem?  Is it a problem?  Do I have something else that I need to set?

That sounds like normal operaton to me.  Once logged into ID Safe, the Settings on the ID Safe drop down is nothing more than a shortcut to Settings > Web > Identity Safe.  This setting page is accessible without being logged into ID Safe by going there via the Main UI,  however all the options are not present until after you log into ID Safe - thus by being logged in and using the toolbar drop down, you have already supplied the password to get to the settings.

I hope I explained that OK.  It is not a problem and nothing else needs to to be set.

Hi mks,

Further, please notice that only the ID safe settings are allowed to be configured through the browser toolbar and as Yank said once you are logged in to ID safe this is OK and by design.

Even if you click on Identity Safe > Options > Settings, it will bring you by default to the ID safe settings page. If you then try to click on any of the other settings tabs, it will then ask for password before allowing you to view and change any other settings besides ID safe.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Allen

Hello Allen,

Thank you very much for your response.  You and yank explained everything very clearly and set my mind at ease.  I am now getting used to these new programs.
