Issue regarding program copies...

I'm in the process of completely wiping my system clean. Being a graphic designer, I do this with all of my computers every year or so, upgrade to new OS's and upgrade hardware among other things. I've realized that I only have one activation remaining for a new PC and I'm wondering...

If I wipe my computer clean (by wipe, I mean total 'clearing, upgrading to Win7, everything that was there before - gone kind of clearing) , will that count as a 'new computer"? I want to have virus protection on the 'new' computer, obviously, and I've recently re-upped for two years so I'm curious as to what I should do. I would like to keep one activation on backup in the event I buy another computer or have some sort of catastrophic problem in the future.

Hi! Damien,

I would strongly recommend going to http://us.norton.com/support/contact/contact.jsp?pvid=cs and selecting the Chat option to chat with technical support on this one; they should be able help you with your issue.  Please note the site provided is for the US if you're in a different country please go to your local Symantec website and select the Contact Us link.

Hello Damien

If you tell us which Norton product you are using, we can provide the latest link for your product. All you would have to do is enter the same key to get your product activated after you have cleared up the issue with keeping the same number of activations left. Thanks.

I have the disc for NIS 2009, which is what I initially used, but I upgraded to the newest version ( I think).

You will need the latest version of NIS for Win 7.  The early disc version of 2009 was not compatible.
