LiveUpdate in NIS 2008 fails to install NIS update, error 1825. Anyone else experiencing this?

I get this message when manually running LiveUpdate from my application:

"The install script for this product had a syntax error, so LiveUpdate could not install it. (Error Code 1825)"

Very odd, as LiveUpdate in NIS 2008 has been successfully installing updates until yesterday, with the problem continuing today. Double odd is that the virus definitions successfully install, I have the latest ones, it's just the specific update that is meant to update Norton Internet Security fails (the file or files that fail are called “Norton Internet Security updates” and weigh 978 kb) which leads me to believe Symantec perhaps sent out a faulty update file for the NIS update?

I wish there was an option to manually download just the specific NIS update, like one can do for each batch of virus definitions, and if there is such an option, please let me know and where to go and/or how to do it, as I haven’t been able to locate one.

Please help. Thanks

Hello skribe,

Do you still have this problem? If so, you can go to Control Panel, find LiveUpdate, then go to "Update Cache", and "Remove all files from cache". Restart your PC and run LiveUpdate again. You can also try to reinstall LiveUpdate, download the latest version: How to download and install LiveUpdate. If nothing helps, reinstall NIS2008, and if you still have this problem, it's possible to be a temporary faulty update file.
