Making an Exclusion that remains excluded!!!!

It is almost impossible to get this program to do what I want it to do!! I spent an hour online with your tech support and was transfered 3 times and they still did not answer my question.

All I want to do is stop NIS 2010 from deleting a file that I WANT TO HAVE ON MY SYSTEM, it has a signature of a trojan for a very good reason. It does inject code but that is what I want it to do! I have right clicked on it and told insight to TRUST IT but that does not stop it from detecting and deleting it. If I go into exclusions and add it then it will leave that one copy alone but it still will not let me move it to where I really want it to be! It will detect and remove it the minute I try to move it. So I am assuming that if I try to run it it will also be deleted.

Why IS THIS SO DIFFICULT? It used to be pretty simple to get your product to leave stuff alone. In past versions all you had to do was right click and tell it to ignore this file and it ACTUALLY would!!!

If there are any techs that can actually help me it would be greatly appreciated, as the guys you have answering your online chat sessions dont seem to be to familiar with your products.

Why do you need to move the file around to use it? Can't you put it in its own folder and exclude it from the scan from there? Otherwise, your only recourse is to add each instance separately to the Scan Exclusions list, which is probably not the best way to go if you move it around a lot.

Re: Making an Exclusion that remains excluded!!!!

I didn't give them the link as the problem seems to be with the AV and not SONAR deleting it.

Even if SONAR2 is deleting the file, moving it all over the system will change the "HASH signature" enough that SONAR2 will delete it again.

The HASH is based on the hash of the file itself. Once that has been excluded, it wont make a difference where the file is moved it, SONAR will not detect or delete it again.

Exactly! This is why I didn't mention SONAR2 as they stated the file was being deleted by the AV, which looks at the signature, if I am correct.

If Norton finds the same "signature" everytime, you could exlude this from the scans by adding this to the Signature Exclusions (Settings > Computer Settings > Exclusions > Signature Exclusions > and click Add.  Then choose the signature that Norton is using to detect and delete your program with.) .

But then you set yourself up for another virus or trojan getting through that has the same signature.

Re: Making an Exclusion that remains excluded!!!!

Can't have everything.  With Norton, that is the only way now to exclude the file from everywhere on the system.  (That is until the single file name addition is fixed per the Help file instructions.)
