I've just replaced McAfee with NAV on my PC, alongside MWB v1.60 full version. Everything seems to work OK except that every few seconds in the Norton history log the AV reports "Unauthorised Access Blocked" to ccsvchst.exe by mbamservice.exe. I've tried excluding the conflicting files in both NAV and MWB but the messages continue to accumulate. MWB doesn't report that it's been blocked. However, both applications seem to be ignoring my exclusions. Any ideas?

Hi rkippax:
Welcome to the Norton Community!
I'm afraid that is it not advisable to run MBAM with realtime protection turned on.
What I think you are experiencing is Norton Tamper Protection at work, not allowing MBAM or any other program to disturb the normal functioning of NAV. You can always use MBAM as a on-demand scanner and in fact, is something that we tend to recommend.
Hope that this answers your question. Please advise if you need further assistance.

Atomic_Blast :)
BTW - Did you remove McAfee with their Removal Tool before going to NAV? Kind of important.

I also run Malwarebytes Pro with NIS. However I disabled realtime protection but I use Realtime Update to check for updates every hour and if one is found it updates MB and then runs a Flash Scan which is a small scan of important areas. Give me MB protection without interfering with NIS.

Hello Phoneman
What happens if both NIS and Malwarebytes wants to run their live updates at the same time? What happens if NIS live update finds an antivirus update and that in turn would kick off a quick idle scan? Malwarebytes is fine as an on demand scanner, but even doing just live updates on both products will still interfere because they both do live updates and they both do quick scans of important areas. If you feel it is that important to update Malwarebytes that often or to check for updates that often, then I would rather run the live updates manually at a time when NIS isn't doing one. Sounds like between the 2 programs, it's going to be running live updates all the time and running these quick scans all the time.
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

NIS does a Full Scan once a Month. NIS does a Quick Scan during Idle time. MB does its Flash Scan after an update. In the past year I have had no conflicks doing this. It is better than running both as realtime protection, which could cause conflicks so this is my compromise to get the best out of MB and NIS.

I have tried running both MBAM and NIS in real-time for a week, and there are absolutely no conflicts that I have found. Normally, two real-time programs like that is a no-no, but these two actually do seem to play nice together.

Are you running MBAM 1.60?
How do you have it configured?
Thanks,
