Does NAV2010 work with any version of ZAP? I use an earlier version of ZAP 5.5.094.000 which doesn't have the spyware eliminator, just privacy control.
I gave up free AVG to try NAV2010 and got the surprise when I tried to install it.
I contacted Support and I got either a upgrade or trial package of NIS2010, I don't know which.
The instructions say to download Norton removal tool and run it. I have Ghost and Partition magic installed. Am I going to lose ability to use them if I install NIS2010?
However, I would like to just use NAV2010 and keep ZAP. ANY way to do this?
Thanks!!!

Hi Scotty71,
Welcome to Norton Community!
I don't think that there will be any compatibility problems between NAV 2010(Norton AntiVirus) and earlier version of ZoneAlarm Pro as NAV 2010 don't have any firewall component. If you have received the confirmation email from Symantec after the purchase of NAV 2010, you can use the following link to download:
If you have purchased NIS 2010(Norton Internet Security), you can uninstall Zonealaram program from your computer since NIS 2010 already have Smart Firewall in it. Running two firewalls or antivirus programs at the same time may cause conflicts with each other as well as affect the performance of your computer.

If you run the NRT, all other Norton products will be removed. They will then need to be reinstalled (with your product key) and no, you will not lose the ability to use Ghost and PM with NIS.
Hope this helps.

I am running NAV 2010 with ZA free 9.1.007.002 on XP pro SP3 without problems. I had a few occasional problems with ZA pro 9.1. (I think if component control was on), so when my subscription ran out I switched to ZA free. I do disable intrusion prevention in NAV, and for ZA pro, disable mailsafe as that duplicates NAV email scanning. (current ZA pro has no antispyware but does have mailsafe).
You must install ZA after installing NAV. Also when there is a major software patch for NAV, best to uninstall ZA and reinstall it after updating NAV (with ZA pro you can back up your settings before uninstall, then reload themk after reinstall).

Hi Scotty71 and welcome to the Norton Community Forums
A year ago i loved to use ZA Pro and having another antivirus by its side, but as soon as NIS 2010 was released i was surprised. It has all the advanced functions that ZA used to have and the firewall is at least as advanced as ZA's. I would recommend you to uninstall ZAP and NAV 2010 (if ur subscription is almost over or u are using a OEM/Trial) and install NIS 2010. You can activate the advanced functions yourself in the network settings.
Give it a try, im sure you wont regret it :).

I appreciate all your help. I have installed the trial versionof NIS2010. I will check it out for the 15 days and see how I like it. I have to check the settings, because I like when I am told when a program is trying to access internet and if I want to allow it.
Thanks for your help!!!

Scotty71:
You will need to go into the network pane>settings > sroll down to Advanced settings>configure. Turn Automatic Program Control to off and turn Advanced Events Monitoring to on. That should give you what you want.
If you want to try automatic after a period of time, you will be able to reverse those two settings and it will maintain the rules you built through the AEM.
