NAV 2011 Questions

I have a couple of questions about NAV 2011:

1. Is there any way to set up NAV to run full system scans only on demand?  NAV will initiate a full system scan sometimes only minutes after I've completed a full system scan.

2. When I run a full system scan a small screen pops up in the lower right hand corner that says "Norton Antivirus is performing a background task: Full system scan in progress."  When this screen appears the scan rate appears to slow down and speeds up when the screen is closed.  This requires frequent attention in order to keep the scan progressing.  Is there any way to disable this feature?

Thanks for the help.

Re: NAV 2011 Questions

NAV2011 will run until it completes its first full system idle time.  After that, you can set the automatic scan to off and do them manually.  The idle quick scans will continue to run for a minute or two when new definitions arrive in the pulse updates.

I find it simpler to allow the weekly scan during idle time, rather than take time out of what I am doing to run a manual scan.  If you interrupt an idle time full system scan, it will continue from where it left off until it completes, and then run again 7 days later.

Re: NAV 2011 Questions

So if I initiate a full system scan and then leave the computer alone NAV will initiate an idle time full system scan also - in effect two full system scans going on at the same time?

Do I have to wait until the first idle time full system scan is complete to turn off the automatic full system scan feature?  How do I turn off the automatic feature?

Thanks.

Re: NAV 2011 Questions

Once the idle time full system scan has started trying to complete, you will need to let it finish.  Go to settings

and you will see a setting under scans for weekly monthly, etc or off.

If you inititate a manual scan just before idle time scan is due, yes, they will both run.
