After the Norton Systemworks 2003 (definition) 'debacle' last May I installed a couple of NAV 2010 Classic on my not-so-speedy computers. They work very well indeed! I checked for a new version today and was advised that NAV 2011 Classic is available and ready for download as an in-line upgrade (see screen-shot).
On the other hand, a Symantec chat-staffer told me that NAV Classic will be discontinued and thus no 2011 Classic version will be offered. My prior Symantec online store link to NAV Classic doesn't work .. but that doesn't necesserlily mean anything. So, what's the story? Will there be a NAV 2011 Classic or not .. or is the one available for upgrade just for upgrades? Comments?
If NAV 2011 Classic is no more, what do I get if I carry through the in-line upgrade just offered (see screen-shot)? A normal NAV 2011 and not the Classic version? Thanks, CBA

No. PDF is one of the file formats permitted to be uploaded .. JPG is not. What's the problem with PDF?

Hello CeeBee,
If you update using the Update Center, you should get a NAV Classic version. Please come back and let us know your results!

Thanks Tim, tried to update yesterday but no joy. The error message told me to do a manual update but the setup file was not available (another error). Perhaps my problem is that I have the 'utility' portion of Systemworks 2003 installed.
I resinstalled a limited part of Systemworks 2003 (sans NAV) after I had installed NAV 2010 Classic back in May. The combo has worked fine so far. Any chance you have a direct link to the NAV 2011 Classic upgrade setup file, just in case? Thanks, CBA
PS: I tried to update my NAV 2010 Classic once more but no success. The error screen is attached. I then followed instructions to do a manual update and landed at the screen shown in the 2nd attachment. BUT, after clicking on download I get a general error that the link is not available. Do I need to uninstall Systemworks 2003 to upgrade NAV Classic from 2010 to 2011?
PPS: the NAVDownloader.exe file downloaded to my computer in the 1st upgrade step is stored here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Norton\{NAV_prod_1.5.12_18.0.21} Does this version number tell you something more?

As a 'post-post' postscript note, I went ahead and uninstalled Systemworks 2003 to see if I, that way, could update my NAV 2010 Classic to the 2011 version offered as an in-line upgrade. However, after rebooting and removing leftover files, I tried in vain to do the upgrade. No luck and the error messages and outcome mirrored what I had experienced already.
Maybe Symantec could provide a direct download link for the full upgrade installer (setup) for NAV 2011 Classic. Thanks, CBA

Hello CeeBee,
We made some changes in the back-end. Can you see if you are able to update from the Norton Update Center now?

Please Note
Norton AntiVirus classic DOES NOT remove spyware or adware!!!

You are better off buying the subscription for Norton AntiVirus 2011 or Norton Internet Security 2011, which offer full coverage against internet threats

Hi Tim,
Thanks. The NAV 2011 Classic update/upgrade installer file was downloaded on first try, as advertised. So the problem must have been on your back-end side. So far .. so good. Let me add the rest of the story here as user feedback:
1. The actual install was interrupted with an error screen telling me that other Norton/Symantec products interfered, and, thus, should be removed. So, I removed Systemworks 2003 (I only use the Norton Utilities portion), rebooted, and completed the intallation, which, by the way, required my NAV 2010 Classic Product Key. It would have been nice if the update didn't require removal of older products .. imho.
2. The first LiveUpdate downloaded another 80MB file .. so the original installer file must have been outdated already. I know, pretty normal these days.
3. In addition to reinstalling Systemworks 2003 (NU), I had to partly reconfigure NAV Classic 2011 as some settings were poorly carried over from Classic 2010. Especially 'User-Specified Programs' under 'Silent Mode'. Sort of a 'pita' but no big deal...
Anyhow, thanks to you and to Reese for looking into (and fixing) this! Best, CeeBee
