NIS 09/10 & 64 bits (Toolbar &Safeweb)

Hi all,

I'm using the 64-bits version of IE8. The problem is, there are no Safeweb icons or the option in the Toolbar in IE8, to enable the Norton Toolbar. In 32-bits I'm having no problems and I can enable or disable the Toolbar through IE8.

Also an other thing, for you guys having problemens with not having the icons from Safeweb. When disabling the Norton Tool bar, you will get the following message:

When you disable the second one, you will also kill the Safeweb fuction. But If go to Norton Internet Security and check the settings, you will see that Safeweb is enabled. If you turn on the Toolbaar (see pic above) Safeweb works back.

I hope these problems can be solved.

It's pretty annoying.

Hello Cell and welcome!

I see that Yogesh provided good information for the issue you are experiencing in  64 bit.

Allow me to clarify your second issue about successfully hiding the Norton Toolbar.

This is actually a function of IE8 and not a change in NIS 2010.

Please give this a try after you have enabled the Norton Toolbar:

Right click on the Norton Toolbar and uncheck "Norton Toolbar". You will be presented with the "Disable Add-on" window which lists "Related add-ons that will also be disabled".

Uncheck those items, then click disable.

Reopen your browser.

The Norton Toolbar will no longer be visible, but you will still have the protection and functionality of the add-ons including the Safe Web Enhanced search results. You will not however have the icons for Site Safety and Cards & Log-ins.

Thanks for the replys. @ Phil_D I was aware of that solution. I also was trying to say that,to other people, who are reading this topic. :) Maybe I could help them out. Sorry for the confusion. ;)

After reading some posts, I see that 64-bits isn't suppported. (yet)

Okay Cell, I guess two reminders on that issue can't hurt!

Thanks!
