I am using NIS 2009 with 3-PCs under the same liscense. It is due to renewal in about a month. My local Fry's Electronic store has NIS 2009 for $60, and with the mail-in rebate and upgrade rebate, the final cost looks much more appearing than just renewing my liscense through Symantec directly. Is there a way to purchase this "new" package and put on my PCs without uninstalling the "old" ones? The current online renewal doesn't offer me any discount. Thanks.

Hi, aschen0866,
You should be able to get a $10 discount when Re-Newing Online compared with someone who does not have a symantec Product installed.

Yes. If you mean buying this at your local shop, then, because you will have a differnet Product Key, I would advise waiting until your Subscrition Expires as this will give you the Option of Entering a New Product Key. Is this what you mean?
Please let me know if this helps you at all.

Asche0866:
The added advantage to having a new disc every year is that you always have a recovery disc available instead of having to burn one. Just enter the new activation key each year.

Nice 2 knowing Alan's problem was solved' can anybody told me? Do constant live update will deliver us to nis 2010? Thx'
It is helpful to start a new Topic when changing the subject!
The answer is that automatic live update will not upgrade from NIS 2009 to 2010. You will be able to go to a website when it is released and download the product.
However some time in August, Norton hopes, they will use liveupdate to update NIS 02009 to the WIN 7 compatible version, although I don't know if any changes will be made on systems not running WIN 7.
With the 2010 versions it will start with downloading a dedicated Norton downloader which will then download the actual installation files with the added feature that it will update these files to the latest definitions so that as soon as 2010 is installed it is uptodate.
Part of the procedure will uninstall the 2009 version since the 2010 is totally different in the way it works so it will not be just replacing a few files.

Quite often the cost of a retail box from the likes of Amazon is cheaper than the renewal.
Being as Symantec now own PCTools I can state here that I had an email recently telling me that I could "early renew" my Spyware Doctor licence for the next year at the reduced rate of £70! A retail box from Amazon is currently only £20!

This update will target non-Win 7 systems as well.
