Hi Reese and Athena:
"Real time protection does not unpack container files. If you were to try to extract an infected file from the container, it would be caught right away by the real time protection though. Manual scan will search within containers, as you've noted." - per Reese A.
Actually, when an infected file or files are located deep in the RAR archive, nested folder under folder, NIS does not see them, whether via Manual scan or upon unpacking (i.e. extracting) the RAR archive.
I wish that I had saved some of these RAR files for your inspection, unfortunately (and as good practice,) I have deleted them.
However, let me snoop around and see if I can locate one for Athena, as a proof-of-concept.
And yes, Athena, you can PM me anytime. ![]()
As for the ISO scan, I would really place that on the fast track, IMHO.
Thanks.
