I just want Norton to keep me safe without any bells or wistles.

If you have enough knowledge of programming, you could always write a macro that randomly changes the background color of NIS every 10 seconds in an endless loop. That could provide many hours of mindless entertainment and fits in well with the holiday season.

My programming skills are a bit rusty, but I managed to write a QuickBasic program and compile it into an EXE. Now NIS cycles thru the available background colors.  It's definitely heightened the program excitement.

Edit 12/19 2:10PM - My programming skills are rustier than I thought. Whenever the NIS background color changes, my garage door opener activates! Back to the drawing board to determine the problem.

Edit 12/19: 2:15PM -  It's worse than I thought.  A family of wolverines has moved into the garage to escape the cold. More excitement than I really wanted. Thanks for nothing!
