NIS 2010 Idle Full System Scan File Count Question

Since I installed NIS 2010 the number of files scanned by the Idle Full System scan has been falling.  It started out scanning 400K files.  The next week it scanned 300K files. In the most recent scan it scanned 200K files.  I assume this is one of the benefits of Norton Insight trusting more files.  Is that correct?

Yes it is a result of Norton Insight trust levels.

How does the Norton Insight process work with respect to the number of files scanned?  I clicked on the details button next to Insight Protection.  It said there were about 3K trusted files. That's a lot less than the 160K files that the scan skipped so there must be more to it.

Re: NIS 2010 Idle Full System Scan File Count Question

Hi car825,

When you do a system scan the history details of the scan will show separate entries for Trusted Files and Skipped Files because they are not the same thing (some untrusted files are skipped because they have not changed since a previous scan found them clean).  Go to Security History > Scan Results.  Select a scan and click the More Details button.  In the Total items scanned listing, click the + box to display the breakout of items by type.
