Norton Internet Security stopsthe working (XP).I loaded program from CD and was OK for awhile. But now the icon has disappeared from the sys tray (lower right)! When I click on alias icon on desktop- nothing happens. I called service tech who said "some file corrupted" , and sent me a new file that I loaded and it worked OK - for a day (I did a scan - found no malicious malware or virus)! Then, the program vanished again! Also running Norton Utilities. Anyone have this problem before?

Your subject says NSI 360 .... Norton Internet Security and Norton 360 are different programs so could you please say which you have. According to which you have your message will be moved to a dfferent forum since this one dedicated to the actual Forum operations themselves.
To save time here is my boilerplate:
To get you the best advice, would you give us some more information about your system:
What version of Windows are you using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit as well as the Name and Version ID of the Norton product that you are using -- Help / About is where that is, in the format of nn.nn.nn.nnn
If you have the COMCAST version of Norton 360 / Security Suite and not the normal commercial version please be sure to tell us.
If you get any error messages please give the exact wording of them as well as any other background that could be helpful.

Sorry - this is NSI 2010.

This is Windows XP, Service Pack 3, with Windows Security Firewall, Auto Updates and Virus Protection all ON.
This is a 32 bit version
Version ID of the Norton product that you are using is 17.5.0.127
I purchased a 3 user CD. I installed the product on my Windows 7 laptop and it is working fine (I got the version number from that machine because, as I said, nothing happens when I try to get Norton IS to work oin my XPO machine. On that XP version I also have Norton Utilities/.
There were NO error messages. The program just does nothing when I click on the Alias icon.

Did you run the HotFix provided in the link below. If not, then try it and let us know how you get on.

Hello arturo
If you have NIS installed, then you shouldn't have the Windows Firewall turned on. It is no good to have 2 firewalls on at the same time.
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

It seems the link is broken---- this is what I get:
Internal Server Error - Read
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Reference #3.3d55434d.1269874307.796f731
Can you find out if there is an updated link?

I will turn the Windows Firewall off and reload the program and see if that resolves the problem.. On my Windows 7 program, the Windows friewall is Off (the message says it is controlled by Norton).

Actually, it was NOT Windows Firewall that was on, but Norton Firewall (from the Security Center in Control Panel when looking at details)..also says that it is Norton AntiVirus that is active (in details). Just that I cannot run the Norton Internet Security program - nothing happens, cannot run a scan. Still back to square one!

The link to the hotfix now works. And the hotfix has repaired the problem - NIS is now working. I will wait a day to be sure the solution in permanent before marking as solution.
Arturo
