NIS 2010 hangs on install after reboot

I had NIS 2009 and did the free upgrade per the link in my email. Everything went quickly, and then it asked for a reboot, so I clicked OK. My computer rebooted, and seems to work fine, but the Norton Download Manager is still active, and says "Installing". This has been on the scren for 30 minutes or more. No hard drive activity, no network activity, but the manager is still on the screen and scrolling like it's working.

When I clicked the "X" to close the window, it asks if I really want to (because it says it's not finished). I clicked YES once, and it killed the window, but then tried to uninstall NIS! I killed that window too, because I didn't want to uninstall it.

I tried clicking on the desktop icon and it started the download manager again... but again, it just sits there like it's working, but nothing is happening.

What can I do?

Interesting re Upgrade from email link...another user had issue with Upgrade from email link

http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&thread.id=79812

Maybe Forum / Symantec will comment re Upgrades from email links...

Fixed: NIS 2010 hangs on install after reboot

All,

What I did was go ahead and let the product uninstall (I selected the option to keep my settings). After the initial un-install it asked me to reboot, and I clicked OK. When my computer came back up it started the 2010 install again, and this time it went quickly and smoothly.

It is working now, and I did the Live Update successfully.

Not sure what was up, but un-install and reinstall seems to have fixed it.
