I'm running NIS 17.0.5.127 and I have an issue where the application will randomly open. It didn't start doing this until a week or two ago. I guess NIS updated to a buggy version and that's when this started. If I reboot my machine it will resolve this for a few days, but then it comes back. I know it's not me opening the program accidentally, since I'll leave my machine at night and come back in the morning to have the main NIS window open.
Any suggestions?

Please see this thread about a Full Screen issue.

I started having this problem the last week or two also. I'll be doing something and look down and see that NIS 2010 is open in my task bar. I bring it up and close it. When it is open like that, it tends not to get the pulse updates. I'll click on run live update and it will install updates. Would like to know why it is doing this.
I'll join the club -- this has been happening to me too. XP SP3 NIS 2010 17.5.0.127 ....
I can't pinpoint any action to account for it.

There has been at least one other source mentioned in the forums for generating this icon. I don't recall the specifics but it was related to fast user switching or suspension/hibernation I think.
P.S. I found the other source, it was related to docking... I suspect that the whole problem is somehow related to changes in or re-evaluation of the screen settings.

That could be since we use FUS and I also had checked out some settings in Desktop / Properties to answer a question elsewhere.
I also think that today it has not reoccurred since I rebooted after uninstalling an application......

Progress update --
A developer has found at least one reason why this issue may occur. The issue was introduced in the 17.5 release when fixing a different, but kind of related bug. Code reviews and testing still need to be performed to determine whether his proposed fix is sufficient. Once that's been determined the fix should get scheduled for inclusion within the next NIS update. Unfortunately I don't know at this time when the next update is scheduled for release.

Thanks for the update Reese -- nice to know it isn't us!

What's the status of this bug being fixed? I've noticed that it seems to do this on my laptop (which is hooked up to an external monitor) whenever I open the lid on the laptop. I'm using the latest Nvidia laptop drivers (which were released a few days ago).
