Hello
Ive been using NIS 2009 and I saw I could upgrade to NIS 2010 for free so I did and all went ok untill it would not activate so I used the norton removal tool to uninstall NIS 2010, I run the tool four time's and ran ccleaner, i tryed this over and over again for two days but still not luck with activating! so I then used the one click support and a norton engineer log'd into my machine over the internet but even he could not get NIS 2010 to activate! So he told me I would get a phone call but hey that so far has not happend! so I am now running a trial version of NIS 2010 with 10 days to go! Now I can down grade to NIS 2009 and all works fine but I would like to have the latest product! Can any one help please.
Many Thanks
Adam
Also Im running windows vista home premium 32-bit with service pack 2 and 3 gb of ram

Hi Adam,
What exactly happens when you try to activate? Do you get any error messages?
Did you try downloading a fresh copy of NIS 2010 and installing it after running the Norton Removal Tool?
If not, you can try that for time being, you can download it from this LINK.

Hi Adam,
Please follow the instructions below - other posters who had the same problem as you were able to solve the activation problem with them :-)
These instructions apply to customers who, even after uninstalling and reinstalling NIS 2010 via the removal tool, cannot activate their NIS 2010 product.
Instructions for Vista:
Go to "Folder options" in Control Panel, click on "View" and check "Show hidden files and folders".
Start Vista in safe mode by tapping the F8 key repeatedly on boot-up.
Then navigate to C:\ProgramData\Norton.
You will find a directory called 00000082. Please rename it to 00000082.ori.
Reboot your computer (it should boot into normal mode).
Open your NIS product, and the activation should work - insert your product key.
Instructions for XP:
Go to "Folder options" in Control Panel, click on "View" and check "Show hidden files and folders".
Then start XP in safe mode by tapping the F8 key repeatedly on boot-up.
Then navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Norton.
You will find a directory called 00000082. Please rename it to 00000082.ori.
Reboot your computer (it should boot into normal mode).
Open your Norton product, and the activation should work - insert your product key.
Instructions courtesy of erevo and erevo's thread.
Please post back with the outcome. Thanks :-)
