NIS 2011 Program Control

May I apologise in advance if this question has an obvious answer but this is new ground for me.

NIS 2011 18.1.0.37 installed and running.

I have a program and its components that keeps connecting to the internet (against my will) which i wish to stop. It also has several components that subsequently access the net to which I have no control.

When the program connects it hangs andf the only cure is to rebbot and then BLOCK all traffic in firewall and use it without any

internet connection

Is there a way I can reset all my alerts and start from scratch so I am able to block the events on first use therefore removing the nessecity to block all traffic

Hope this doesnt sound to complicated

Thanks in advance

Hi markwinterb,

The preferred way to handle this would be to see if there is a setting in the program itself, such as automatic updating, that can be disabled.  Failing that, you should open Norton Network Settings, scroll down to the Norton Smart Firewall settings, and click Configure [+} next to Program Control.  Find the name of the program in the list and use the dropdown box on the entry's line to change the setting to "Block."  That's all you should need to do.
