Hi HpBaxxter,
Welcome to the forum,

Hi HpBaxxter,
Welcome to the Norton Community.
What version of NIS 2011 do you have? You can find the version from Support > About.
I see from your Seven forums post that you have had several AV programs installed at one time or another. What is the current state of affairs with regards to the other AV programs??
Do you currently have any other security programs installed besides NIS? Did you uninstall all of the others AND run a removal tool to ensure they were properly removed before installing NIS? If not, this is probably the source of your problems.
You indicate in the Seven forums post that you have used the removal tools on the others but I want to make sure you done all this before installing NIS.
You also called an exception for MSE and MalwareBytes in your Seven forums post. Is MSE still installed? This needs to be uninstalled. Please see the following two posts on how to properly remove MSE.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2435760 (NOTE, this one specifically says it applies to version 1 only)
Also was the MalwareBytes you had the paid version or the free version? If it was the free version you can leave that installed. If it was the paid version then you need to remove it AND run a removal tool for it. Please see this link for the MalwareBytes removal tool.
If all of this was not done properly before instlaling NIS then we are probably going to need to uninstall NIS, run removal tool and reinstall. But we'll come back to that after confirming that all the other AV software have been properly removed.
Best wishes.
Allen

Hi HpBaxxter,
Thanks for the update. As long as you are absolutely sure that you uninstalled the old AV and ran its removal tool before installing NIS you should be OK.
It is possible that NIS is just doing its first full system scan. From the main NIS window, click on Performance, then Norton Tasks. Look in the list and find Idle Full System scan. Please let me know what is in each column for that entry. E.g., Last Run, etc.
Also I would recommend that you invoke a manual Full system scan from the main UI. Click on Scan Now, then Full System Scan.
NIS is quite aggressive at getting that first full scan completed after install.
How long ago did you install NIS? Also, what are your system specs again? CPU type and speed, amount of RAM, etc.
Also at a time when the computer seems slow, pull up the Task Manager by right clicking on the task bar at the bottom and select Task Manager. The click on the CPU column header so that the process using the most CPU cycles are shown at the top. What processes are listed and what is under the CPU column?
Thanks
Allen

Since you had had NIS before that did you run the Windows Remove Programs and then the Norton Removal Tool to remove NIS before you installed Kaspersky?
You did Uninstall Kaspersky using the Kaspersky tool as instructed below?
