NIS 2011 and IE9

[ Edited ]

Morning to all,

Been a long time since I posted on here, but thought I'd find out from some of you good people who have installed IE9 with NIS 2011. I have the latest version installed with W7 Home Prem.

What I would like to know is, does the 'Norton Toolbar' sit ok with the new browser? Also, does the favourites list of web sites stay or do they get deleted?

Another thing I thought of, are there any issues with things like I think it's 'smart screen filter' with the new browser.

I have had a look through the Microsoft site and some older posts here but when installing something new like this I like to err on the side of caution first and ask people themselves for their opinions.

Overall, do you think it worth upgrading to IE9 or sticking with IE8?

Re: NIS 2011 and IE9

You should definitely upgrade to IE9. Improvements all the way. And NIS is compatible with IE9 in all the ways you describe. I use Firefox, but I have tested with IE9,and everything works fine, including the smart screen filter. Unless you experience any noticable issues, you can leave that on too.

Hi,

NIS 2011 is comptabile with IE9, what I suggest is, if possible please run liveupdate repeatedly until you get all the latest updates available before upgrading to IE9.

Re: NIS 2011 and IE9

Thanks to both of you for your replies, I am sure I will decide one way or the other later today if I will go ahead. Like all new web browsers, they take a few days getting used to and finding your way around but will see if there are any more comments forth coming. So far it's looking favourable.

Re: NIS 2011 and IE9

Hello brummie,

IE9 is running well here with NIS 2011.  I have not had any problems.

You will find that it renders web pages faster than IE8.  Once in a while you may encounter a website that is not fully compatible with IE9, but then you can just use the Compatibility View option.

Go for it!

Norton 360 • Norton Internet Security • Norton Zone | XP SP3 • Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64
