Hi,
When my Windows XP computer starts up, sometimes it fails to load Norton Internet Security 2011. I have to reboot in order for Norton to load at startup. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I updated from Norton Internet Security 2010 and this problem started after that. I never had this problem with Norton Internet Security 2010.

Hello botboy217
Welcome to the Norton Community Forum
Do you have any other real time security programs installed now? You could try putting on Boot Time Protection to Aggressive under Computer Settings.
Please come back and let us know if that helps. Thanks.
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

Hi,
Thanks for the help, but NIS is already set to Aggressive under Boot Time Protection. I have no other security programs installed. Today, when I booted up this morning, NIS came up fine. Later, NIS did not come up after 4 reboots. There is no error messages or anything from NIS. When clicking on the NIS icon on the desktop, the pointer turns to semibusy (hourglass with pointer) then after a couple seconds, back to pointer, nothing happens.

I suggest you download Autoruns from Microsoft. After installing, run autoruns and when scan is finished examine the tab "logon". This lists the progs being loaded at startup. You may have a conflct. When you untick an item Autoruns does not remove the item but merely moves it to a safe location so you can restore it back. You can start by unticking, webcams, keyboard programs, special mouse programs, special clocks, reboot and see if problem goes away.

Hi,
I went back to NIS 2010 and I don't have any problems with Norton at startup. I didn't want to go through the fuss of troubleshooting Norton's problem with NIS 2011 on XP. Thanks for the suggestions!
