Having been a user of NIS for several years I now run NIS 2012 on Win7. Everything is working fine except for the Identity Safe auto login feature. I am a Firefox fan (have the latest version and NIS is fully updated) and have never encountered the following problems before until using NIS 2012:

1) Auto logins that have worked flawlessly for years across a range of sites now no longer do.

2) Some only partially fill in whereas they always fully completed allowing instant login.

3) When attempting to login to sites while browsing with Firefox it often takes 3 tries to get the login to function.

4) Yahoo Mail is a perfect example:

• First try - Yahoo Mail login window replies in red "Invalid Password" message.
• Second try - Firefox delivers up responses such as this real example:

"status"  :  "redirect",

"url"  :  "http://nz.mg2.mail.yahoo.com/neo/launch?.rand=f2e36ne443i1o"

• Third try - login successful

This is all a real pain in the neck, especially as Identity Safe has always worked flawlessly for me in the past.

I would be grateful for a sollution to these irritating problems.

Hi,

Does the auto-submit feature works fine with other browsers? You use the Online vault or the local vault?

Can you please try out this option, guess it should solve but lets give it a try.

Just try creating a new profile deleting the current one. Before you delete the current profile, just take a backup of the data.

1.From the toolbar, click on identity safe->Options->Export; export it in a DAT format

2.Use the delete data option from the Identity safe settings UI and delete the profile.

3.Click on identity safe setup and create a new profile and import the backup file using the import option.

4.Try to auto-submit the yahoo login and let us know the results.

I have always successfully used the local vault.

I tried your suggestion but the problem remains.

Same issues here.

Also sometimes when a browser new window is launched the Identity Safe toolbar is missing.

Happens every time with this site. http://www.123pricecheck.com UK - long standing price comparission site. Select any CD or DVD and check prices. Select the Amazon link and the new window will open without the Identity Safe toolbar.

                                                    Sorry to hear of your issue with NIS2012 and the ID safe logins with relationship to the Firefox8 browser platform ! 

I am currently using the Firefox8 current release browser and have had no issues whatsoever with Identity Safe performance within the browser on my own laptop ....... that does not mean that I haven't come across this issue though !

My wife has NIS2012 on her laptop and is using the same Firefox version8.0 as I am using .........Yet she has experienced exactly the same problems as you guys' !

I cannot guarantee that this will succeed on your machines ......but I uninstalled Firefox8 via Revo Uninstaller ,and ensured that all registry remnants that related to any " hooks " into Firefox8 registry values were completely removed !

After a fresh reinstall of Firefox and restart of the system ..the issue had been resolved totally .

There is so much going on "under the hood " between processes within the O/S , the browser processes , and the NIS functions.....that I honestly cannot " pin down" why this simple reinstall action worked !

I can only offer the suggestion that you give it a try ..it may work for you too ?

I have been a staunch supporter of Mozilla and the Firefox browser since it first launched ...but the "rapid release " format currently being rolled out by Mozilla ...makes me always firstly look to the browser  in any troubleshooting I do in compatibility issues " such as this !

The last few solutions I have come across with similar type of issues  , all proved to be  browser based !

I am still a Firefox supporter ...but the "rapid release " business is leading me to believe that there are more "quirks " appearing in Firefox than in previous times!

You could be right bleeper24 but in the browser based world within which Norton products exist, Symantec has to do much more to keep on top of ongoing browser(s) code changes AND / OR simpifiy their code and the interface so that it does work.The Mozilla approach ups the ante.

IMHO - there is no chance that joe public can cope with these issues. Better coding and testing pre-release is necessary else Norton's/Symantec's reputation and sales will be adversly impacted.

Big fan / user for many years by the way - through thick and thin ...

I did uninstall / reinstall both NIS2012 / Firefox 8 by the way but saw no improvement. Noted that 19.2 addressed some Identity Safe issues but these issues still exist.

Fingers crossed for 19.3!

Did the complete un-install and re-install of FireFox also (removing all personal details) but nothing has changed.

How about some comeback from Norton on this one as Prasanna offered? As I say, have never had any problems with Identity Safe and FireFox before this. Log-ins work fine in IE but I'm a FF person for all the good reasons.

Anyone from Norton out there?

Hi,

When you say Auto-login, i assume you mean to say that you are trying the launch the Yahoo mail directly from Identity safe logins list in the toolbar.

Have you tried the same scenario with the option  "Ask for my password before filling each login" selected from Password & Security Options. If not would it be possible for you try selecting that radio button from the "Password & Security" option under Identity safe settings. Just for the purpose of checking if Auto-submit works when password is prompted before filling and then if its submitted. 

Please let me know if you had used that option already.

Tried that and it made no difference - except making the whole process longer.

By "auto login" I mean the way I have always been able to do it, until now, since Identity Safe became a NIS feature.

That is, signing into Identity Safe at the tool bar, selecting a stored login from my list and that taking me to the website's login page and the user name and password being filled in automatically by Identity Safe with no problem.

This is what I want to be able to achieve now as well. What was a fast and secure system has become slow and frustrating.

I have tried editing all my logins - deleting and re-entering them manually but this hasn't fixed the issue either.

Just an FYI...

I have had the same issues and have it on another thread. I noticed it when I went from NIS 2011 to NIS 2012. It is NOT a FireFox issue as it behaves the same way in IE! In my case, I have issues logging in to my GMAIL Accounts and IDSafe in NIS2011 never had any issues. I restored an Image and all was OK again. I redid the update to NIS2012 and it was broken again in IE...so I KNOW it is NOT a Firefox issue. I have stayed on NIS 2012 but sure wish this could be resolved.
