Do this if you had NIS 2011 ,
1. OPEN NIS 2011
2. GO SUPPORT
3. CHECK NEW VERSION
4. AND NOW DOWNLOAD NIS 2012

I'm happy to report that the (very non-critical, btw.) issue I presented here has been (99%) solved even with me dropping off the radar for quite some time. The NIS 2012 has the most thorough uninstall procedure ever seen so far in Norton products.
Only two greyed-out ghost drivers are left after uninstallation, and they can be ''uninstalled'' without a reboot. So, you are almost home.
Congratulations on your new release!

Sometimes a restart is required because files that are in use cannot be deleted.
Personally I ripped NIS 2011 out of my machine using NRT.

I find it really strange that NIS2012 remembers my key although I uninstalled completly my NIS2011...

It is stored seperately. So if you have to uninstall and reinstall you don't have to re-enter it.

Read through the linked topic and you will see I'm not refering to that case at all.
