NIS 2012 - Scan settings?

Just installed NIS 2012, and it appears to be doing several "Quick Scans" per day . I did not set up any schedules.

How can i schedule these scans? and how often should i schedule quick scans and full scans?

thanks.

Re: NIS 2012 - Scan settings?

Quick Scans run every time your computer enters an idle state after a new full set of virus definitions have been downloaded. These are released about 3 times daily, on average, which means 3 Quick Scans a day. There is no way to turn these off.

You don't need to run any full scans unless you suspect an infection. The Quick Scans are thorough enough.

Re: NIS 2012 - Scan settings?

Hi jargey3000,

I would add to what Bombastus said in that IDLE Full Scans run only once per month by default with 2012 instead of once per week as it used to with 2011 and earlier.

However, if you upgraded from an earlier version (compared to a clean install) then 2012 will retain the once per week setting for IDLE full scan which you had with your earlier version.

You might want to consider changing your IDLE full scan to once per month...

Best wishes.

Yes it should be.

You can always double check by going to Settings > Computer tab > Computer Scan > Full System Scan.

Best wishes.
