Sorry for the double post, wanted to edited it but the forum software is again letting me down.
-----------------------------------
I really hope the techteam look into the performance. The menus are really slow compared to NIS2011. Sometimes accessing settings it takes up to 5 or 7 seconds. Which normaly is 4 seconds in my case, but that's still too long. Very buggy if you ask me.
Saw on YoutTube where it just pop-uped.. But also on videos it does take longer. So very random.

All --
I see no sign of this on my WIndows 7 32 bit Home Premium installation -- if I click on Settings the group screen comes up with perhaps a 1 second pause but when I click on s group, like Computer, the settings screen slides across instantly.
I'll check my XP installation later on but the OS there is not as healthy as I'd like!
In both cases I installed NIS 2012 on top of 2011 using the Support / Version Update route.

I'm running Windows 7 32 bit on a laptop with 2.2 dual core, 4gb ram which should be wayyyy more than enough to run NIS 2012, but I also suffer from slowdowns.
Scanning is fine, just as fast as 2011, as is LiveUpdate, the only slow downs I notice is actually navigating menus and interfaces within NIS 2012. It doesn't impact upon system performance at all, well in fact it seems faster than when 2011 was running, so it's not a big issue for me. It would be nice if the menus were faster though.
Another thing I noticed is when optimising; if I manually optimise through Norton, it never seems to finish until I cancel it? Again, not a big issue in the grand scheme of things since Windows 7 does a lot of that itself, just thought I'd put it out there so you can look for any patterns/correlations etc.
That aside, NIS 2012 is by far the best I've used yet, so good job! Well worth the money.
EDIT: As the guy above, I also used the "Update / Upgrade" route.
Also, Norton always informs me it's working in the background (Scanning too) & the only reason I know is that it tells me, no performance impact whatsoever.

My computer have big problemes with the "Settings" button. It can take minutes and during this time the hole computer is "dead". My swidish Symantec-techniques has worked with the comupter in 1,5 hour and took all test for analyse the problem. But they have not found anything wrong. So what is the problem? Must we install the 2011 version again? Please put all cards on the table and tell us what you know about the problem, Symantec!

Hi Johannes,
Thank you for your continued patience with us while we work through this issue. I am currently in the process of getting all the logs and information from the Swedish tech specialist that gathered the logs from your machine. I do have all the information I need at this point, but I will definitely let you know if I need more information!
I will make sure to update this thread as and when more information becomes available to me.
Thank you once again for your patience and loyalty!
Best Regards,

Dear Avani!
I can just tell you that version 19.1.1.3 feels even slower, but it may just be a delusion.
The problem are at least not gotten better with version 19.1.1.3.

avanip my settings were set to Aggressive in NIS 2012.
I will be sticking with 2011 untill the performance issues are fixed.

We are many users that have this problem and Symantec is working on a solution.

Any news about this?

Hi all,
I have been complaining about the very sluggish performance of NIS 2012, shortly after it was released.
In addition, I made myself a promise - If 2012 does not have it's act together within the next 60 days, I'm going
back to 2011. As mentioned in my other posts, 2011 was Symantec's best release ever. It just needed
to be tweaked a bit.
I mean, how far could you go with a great product, such as 2011? More eye candy? There is a limit.
Seriously!
Atomic_Blast :)
P.S. And get rid of that white background in Settings. The software looks really unpolished! ![]()
