NIS 2012 blocking my Bell mobility access

I am unable to connect to toBell Mobility.  No problem connecting to the wireless router at home.  Thewireless stick worked on my friends laptop.

When I start up the program the initiating window appears.  It then shows 5 of 5 bars. I click on the connect button.  After a considerable amount of time an error message # 718 states that the remote computer did not connect after considerable time so the connecting process has stopped.

Bell Mobility has stated all is well at there end and that was verified on my friends laptop.

Any help would be appreciated.  I am no real techy but I try.

Try temporarily disabling Smart Firewall. Right click on the Norton icon in the task bar at the bottom right corner of the Windows desktop. Click on disable SmartFirewall. Set the time for 15 minutes.

Now try to connect. If it still does not connect, it would not seem to be a Norton issue.

Be sure to reset your Smart firewall when finished testing.

Thanks I tried that  already.  Last night I uninstalled NIS and I still have the failure to connect after initializing. This newbie is sure missing his internet access.

Hi,
Have you tried doing a wire [network cable] connection between your computer and the router?

From what you have reported it sounds like the router and the stick are working as expected. The part of with and without Norton and still no connection suggests that there may be another setting on your computer which is causing the problem.

Keep us posted

Just to confirm, you still cannot connect even with NIS uninstalled.

Now it would be time to contact Bell Support.

As you have eliminated Norton as a problem, you should reinstall. Connect through your router and run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.
