Just upgraded to NIS 2012.  Backing up my drive by transferring "My Documents" folder to another drive but I get Windows XP message that there isn't enough quota to continue.  Always when transferring tiny files (clipart etc).

I have 4gb RAM and 4gb paging file so plently of capacity.

Transferring files works fine if I disable auto protect

Machine HP quad core 2.5 ghz, 4gb ram.  Windows XP SP3

Have you run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available?

Try running Autofix. Click on Support - Get Support. This will check your NIS installation for errors and fix what it finds.

Thanks for the suggestions.  Have already tried these and no joy.  Nothing wrong with installation.

Have left task manager running when transferring files and my page file never goes much above 1.5 gb of the 4 gb limit and the machine doesn't seem under any real pressure.

I wondered whether the speed of transfer with these tiny files was just too much for norton to cope with.  If I disable auto protect I don't get any windows error message and everything transfers fine.

Am going to try robocopy (microsoft utility program which transfers files in a dos box and is mainly for files where the combined path is more than the maximum XP can handle (255 characters I believe).  That doesn't put any pressure on Windows as it is done in a dos session (paging file stays at its usual level anyway so I assume it isn't impacting on system resources.

Other PC runs out of Norton 2011 licence shortly so I'll instal 2012 on that one and try it as well.
