Which feature caused the slow down? Disable one at a time until you see the speed pick up.

Re: NIS 2012 slowing down downloadspeed FireFox 13?

Disabling all modules, speed went up from 40 to 80 Mb. (Still not the 98 MB possible) After disabling one after another it is the emailmodule that blockes speed (down from 70 to 38 Mb)

I wonder if a clean install is necessary because I don't have any problems with IE9. The challenge is clearly FF  and W7 related? Something in FF is trickering NIS to block speed. Or the other way arround?

Unless there is a conflict somewhere, NIS doesn't slow Firefox download speed. Unlike some other antivirus programs, it doesn't have an HTTP-scanner.

I wonder if Flash is responsible for the conflict?  Don't know how the browsers IE and FF handle  that?

Re: NIS 2012 slowing down downloadspeed FireFox 13?

Flash might be involved in Internet speed tests, but not actual downloading of files.

I tested my connection with NIS 2012 using Firefox 13, and with a flash-based testing webpage right now, and I got about exactly what I should get.

Re: NIS 2012 slowing down downloadspeed FireFox 13?

Just did a clean install NIS 2012 and FF again. Did a speedtest on a flashbased website and the results are IE speed 98 Mbps and FF 13.01 38 Mbps.  Back where I started 2 days ago. I seems to me that NIS in the learning process of the tests slowed down 80, 60, 38 Mbps after 3 tests. Any suggestions?

Re: NIS 2012 slowing down downloadspeed FireFox 13?

I wonder are there any specific differences between FF and IE that could cause a delay? What about the plug ins are there any plug ins in particular that can tricker NIS in slowing down the speed? After a clean install it could be either the combination or one of the plug ins or the combination. Switching them off has no effect. Am I special or are there more FF users with similar problems?

When you say you did a clean install of NIS, did you use the Norton Removal Tool, or the Norton Removal and Reinstall Tool?

Download the Norton Removal tool from here.

Download a fresh copy of NIS from here.

Back up your Identity Safe data if you use that feature.

Run the Norton Removal tool.

Reboot

Run the NIS installation.

Run LiveUpdate manually a few times, rebooting as necessary, until no updates are available.

Reboot once more.

Import your Identity Safe data.

On other thing to check is your add ons for Firefox. Disable each add on one at a time and test your speed

Re: NIS 2012 slowing down downloadspeed FireFox 13?

Thanks for your reply. I did a clean install , removing NIS using the control panle, ran the removal tool 3 times after reboots and used a fresh file to install NIS 2012 again. Everythingb works fine. Except that checking the speed NIS slowed down the speed. That's why I said that in the learning proces NIS speed slowed down from 80 to 38 Mbps again.

Regarding the add ons/plug ins I don't know if one of those could be responsable. I have Google Earth, Google Update, Itune Application, Java deployment, Java platform, Nvidia plug in and Nvidia  streaming plug in, Shockwave Flash , Shockwave director, Quicktime, Silverlight, VLC Web, Windows live photo, Adobe Acrobats.

Could one of this plug ins or combination  cause the problem?

I have disabled them one after another but notice no effect?
