I'm beginning to get really pissed off with Symantec since NIS 20.1.1.2 was released. I understand a patch was released Friday night for us U.S. citizen's I ran Live Update it said a patch was available. I let it apply the patch, restarted my pc and NIS still say's version 20.1.1.2. Tonight I uninstalled NIS, restarted my pc and let Norton Management redownload and install NIS. I restart my pc and rerun Live Update yet again. Live Update, yet again say's a patch is available. I let it install it and click on restart now. I reopen NIS and it still say's version 20.1.1.2. I rerun Live Update numerous time's with reboot's until no patches or updates are found. I then recheck and I've still have NIS 20.1.1.2.
I think when I upgrade to Windows 8 Pro x64 in 2 weeks from Windows 7 Professional SP1 x64, that I'm going to be ditching Symantec and going with Bitdefender.
Every review I've seen on NIS 2013 by pc magazines and reliable pc website's all say NIS 2013 stinks.
At this point I fully agree.

Hi! Brkkab123,
Please fully read the post by Tim Lopez & Tony Weiss found here: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Sec
You may feel free to switch products but be forewarned that ALLsecurity suites like Norton's perform the same phased deployment so that they have a chance to see what the new build does out in the field (on customers computers) before completely rolling out said new build to everyone.
Thanks, for your patience and understanding,

Funny, I read that post on Friday at 10:05 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, which would be 7:05 Pacific Standard Time where it was posted from. I ran Live Update applied said patch, restarted my pc and still have 20.1.1.2. I've run Live Update numerous time since with restart's after each run. I've uninstalled NIS, run the Removal Tool and redownloaded and installed NIS 2013 and still have NIS 2013 20.1.1.2 here in the U.S.
That's exactly why in 2 weeks Norton won't be on my pc. The 2013 version absolutely suck's. Funny how everyone that matter's agree's with me. Namely computer magazine websites and computer websites that review pc components and software for a living.

Uninstalling NIS will not get you to v20.2.0.19 faster. The build that is downloaded after your PC is restarted is an older build. Similar to if you purchased the retail version of NIS. The version on the CD would be old. It is up to LiveUpdate to provide the newer versions. Symantec may at some point provide a newer version download on the website.
The post by tom_lopez clearly states that the patch is deployed in two steps. First 20.1.1.2 then 20.2.0.19
So if you have 20.1.1.2 you'll have to wait and run LiveUpdate later. I got 20.1.1.2 and a day later I got 20.2.0.19
Getting angry over not receiving a patch on your schedule isn't worth it.

SGFC is absolutely right.
One of my systems is on 20.2 while the other is stuck on the older 20.1.
Don't worry. The updated patch will be available by Wednesday to general public and you would be able to update then.
Hi cskwatra,
Can you share where that information came from?
A link would be really helpful, as I can't sem to find that information.

Hi! Brkkab,
Can you please provide the names of the Computer Magazine publications and websites that provide such reviews as most of them that I've checked have not yet tested the 2013 products but they have reviewed/tested the 2012 products and Norton gets good reviews not negative ones.

Hello there~ Just to be sure I understand this "phased deployment" business...
Updating NIS 2012 right now--today--serves practically no purpose, as NIS 2013 (20.1.1.2) is "buggy." (One purpose it does serve, is that I would have already downloaded and installed NIS 2013 (20.1.1.2) by the time the "patch" is released via Live Update...apparently this Wednesday.) Correct?
Furthermore, the patch to NIS 2013 (20.1.1.2)--which is version 20.2.0.19--is not available right now--today. Instead, users will need to keep running Live Update until that patch is available...apparently this Wednesday. Correct?
Eh...I just don't want to go fiddling with NIS 2012 anymore, until I'm certain that updating it to NIS 2013 "twice" will ultimately result in the best possible hassle-free user experience. Thankee. ![]()

Hi Saganized,
If I understand you - yes you are correct.
If you are on NIS 2012 right now, thre is no sense in upgrading to NIS 2013 until after such time as the 20.2.0.19 update is available - which as of right now, is not available.
You may have seen I questioned where the Wed came from and did not get an answer - just sit back and wait until it is annuonced as ebing available and then upgrade to NIS 2013 fro the better experience. BTW, I believe the over the top upgrade will still permit you to keep the Local Vault, as I am pretty sure you will have to go thru 20.1.1.2 in orer to grab 20.2.0.19 from the LiveUpdate server.
Hope the answers your question.

You missed his point.
He was talking about _2013_.
Analogy:
Someone says "The new 2013 Honda Accord [or whatever] is terrible.
Response: "But the 2012 model was great."
Irrelevant.
