When I run live update, everything is successful until the "process updates" part which reads as "failed to complete". It tells me to turn on my Automatic Live Updates and Pulse Updates in the settings to fix it. They are both on and it still does not work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Reboot does nothing. This has been happening for about a week and a half and I power down my laptop every night.

Hi,
OK, time for the bigger hammer. Please download and run the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool from here:
http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_ty
Be sure to run live update and reboot after each cycle until the program tells you that all updates have been downloaded and installed.

Hello ccroteau
This is an ongoing problem that has been going on for a few weeks now. There is no need to uninstall and reinstall. As has been mentioned, a few manual runs of live update usually brings the updates thru. Also waiting for automatic live updates to work will also eventually get them to you. It may just take a little longer that way. Sometimes it will work for days perfectly and then you think it's all fixed. Then the day comes along and the problem happens a couple of times that day. It can be various different updates also that don't get installed on the first try. It can be just trying to get 1 item updated or it might be trying to update 5 items and 2 get updated ok and the next try another one gets updated. So you can see it happens in a haphazard way which makes it harder to get fixed, but Norton is working on it.
The pulse updates are working so you are getting the antivirus definitons when they get first released, so that is protecting you. Don't know if a busy internet is really to blame because it can happen to me in the middle of the night or in the middle of the day.. My internet speed doesn't have anything to do with it cause my speed is plenty fast. Norton is still protecting your computer though. Both 2011 and 2012 products.
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.
