Hi,
yes, OnlineFamily.Norton is the successor of the previous Norton Add-On Packs, which had the Parental Controls extensions to Norton Internet Security previously.
If you do not need Parental Controls for your computer, please ignore this notification.
However I would suggest you to download and install the latest version of Norton Internet Security, it is the 2011 version. From the Norton Update Center (www.norton.com/nuc) you can download the free update for your 2010 product.

Hello PapauZ
Thanks for your interest...
As this type of Notification was totally new to my eyes...
Just needed to confirm that Notification appeared because I have Norton In-Product Special Offers ON. Odd, that it took so long for my very first In-Product Special Offer to pop. I expected this type of Notification via Norton In-Product Special Offers for release of NIS11. ?
Thnx

Hello bjm_
What you saw just came out recently to tell about the new parental controls. It's one of 4 different one's you may see. It has to do with the 2011 products since that's the new parental control that is used with NIS 2011.
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

What I find puzzling is that I have Norton Special Offers turned OFF, so that I don't get anything of this nature, and yet, I just got this "Service Notice," which is advertising, no matter what the name. I don't have cable TV just because of the commercials. I really don't want them popping up on my desktop!
Just ignore it, to my way of thinking, is totally not a satisfactory option. From the sound of things, I am going to be expected to ignore multiple instances of it, after I have taken pains to avoid it entirely.
Before anybody says anything about updating, I will get to it, when I get to it. My laptop is updated to 2011, but it is handy to have the older version on one machine to help with questions relating to 2010.

And yet I have mine set to not get product notifications and I did not get it. Ok, I'm confused. ![]()
And of course when your on the forum all the time, why would you need product notifications anyway? ![]()

Interesting ... as I still have 2010 (and I'll update when I'm ready) Why would I get info for a 2011 product.
Norton In-Product Offers - might suggest that the offers would be for my product ?
I know ... it's a mass Offer to all Norton product users...(with extra special attention for delphinium
)
Wonder why I do not receive Offer to Upgrade to 2011....I know ....it's not product specific.
Well, if it's not product specific....then I should get an Offer for 2011 products....
I'm stumped... ![]()
Was going to markup as Solution ...but, as others have chimed in. I'll leave it for now
Thnx floplot and Congrats (you do the Guru badge proud - you're a Norton Fighter by my chinese algebra) ![]()
Cheers
Ooops...almost forgot AllenM - Congrats NF

The Norton In-Product Offers weren't used previously, during the 2011 products' beta testing Symantec finished its new delivery method, this is the one you see, and now began to use it.
I'm sure soon they will use it to notify old product users about the new 2011 versions as well...

Hello Allen
You haven't seen the notification because you have already updated to 2011.
