NIS antispam component errors

Having trouble with NIS antispam component, it keeps having errors.

error title:  antispam OE Hook Launcher
antispam OE Hook Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience.
  followed by:
error title:   Program Error
asOELnch.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. you will need to restart the program.
with this in the windows event log:
Description:
Faulting application asoelnch.exe, version 18.5.0.125, faulting module asoelnch.exe, version 18.5.0.125, fault address 0x00001a6d.

I have tried:
1) antispam select off.  then restart windows  (still get error)
2) antispam select on. select client configuration and uncheck outlookExpress and windows address book. then restart windows  (still get error)
3) client configuration with unchecked outlookExpress and windows address book. antispam  select off.  then restart windows  (still get error)
4) antispam select off.  go into safe mode, move the asoelnch.exe file.  then restart windows   No more errors, but the base 'email antivirus scan'  doesn't function.

 using: NIS 2011 v18.5.0.125  , windows XPproSP3  , OutlookExpress 6.0 with 4 user accounts

I searched saw some asoelnch.exe problems in earlier versions but not lately.
Any suggestions?

Re: NIS antispam component errors

@MashineGod Have you done the standard uninstall/reinstall solution? I was getting ready to do it, but after seeing your response I guess I'll wait in hope that there will another solution.

wornout :plse convert your oehook.bmp to jpg and post then post it here.

Others : did you all come from an older version before 2009 of NIS like MashineGod?

Then it would be better to clean up thoroughly with Norton Removal Tool and then reinstall. Norton had a major design change in 2009.

It only takes about 10-15 minutes and will save you a lot of time.

1 - Backup your Identity Safe data if you use it and have your Norton key ready from your Norton account.

2 - Download Norton removal Tool from here :

http://www.symantec.com/symnrt

3 - Download NIS2011 from here :

http://www.norton.com/nis11

4 - Then (if still there) remove NIS 2011, NIS 2006 and Liveupdate via Add/Remove Programs and, if asked, also remove your user settings with that.

5  - Run the Norton Removal Tool TWICE and reboot in between (that's for erasing the remnants of NIS xxxxx completely).

6 -  Install NIS2011

7 -  Run Liveupdate from the NIS 2011 main panel, untill there are nomore updates

W8 / W7/SP1 with IE10 / XP3/SP3 with IE8 and FF 19, TB 17, NIS2013 20.3.0.36

Re: NIS antispam component errors (oehook.exe)

Kudos to hvgsel. I spent 4 days (about 5 hours total) chatting with the very nice tech support folks at Norton, but they could not solve the daily pop up error message I was receiving ("AntiSpam OE Hook Launcher"), other than to have me turn off features -- a bad idea. I followed hvgsel's instructions exactly (including using the Norton removal tool twice), and the reinstall now works fine, including all of the features. I will report this solution to Norton directly. By the way, my system info. is: MS Win XP Media Center Ed., ver. 2002 SP3, Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705, Intel T7200 2.0 GHz x 2, 2GB RAM, running Norton Internet Security 18.67.0.29. Thank you hvgsel!

Re: NIS antispam component errors (oehook.exe)

FYI: Am having same problem with N360 (which was just upgraded via remote control by Symnatec to fix a different problem). Just lovely.
