NIS2010 Client intigration

I just tried to add news group to my email account and said thet Windows Live can not connect to internet as the firewall is blocking it. I tried to add this "wlmail.exe" to exclusion but still no good. Then I found out that my NIS2010 client integration shows mail client as windows mail - the old program and not the Windows Live Mail which I installed about 6 months ago. Please tell me how do I change the default email in client intigration and how do I exclude the wlmail.exe in the setup.

I appreciate any help available.

Re: NIS2010 Client intigration

Hi noormotani,

Could you tell us the version of NIS 2010 you have from Help & Support > About? Also what OS and SP (service pack) do you have and is it 32 or 64 bit?

Windows Live Mail is not yet supported from a Client Integration perspective. If you temporarily disable the Smart Firewall in NIS are you able to connect? You can do this from the main NIS window Smart Firewall and set to Off.

Also you are entitled to a free update to NIS 2011 if your subscription is current. Please let me know if you would like to do this upgrade and I will provide the details for you.

Best wishes.

Allen

Windows 7 Ultimate SP 1, 32 bit, 4 GB * NIS 2012 (19.8.0.14) * Ghost 15 * IE 9, Firefox, Safari.
Test laptop with W7 Home Premium 64 bit * NIS 2012 (19.8.0.14)

My NIS2010 version is 17.8.0.5 and operating system is Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I tried to check the subscription status through help and it responded that it could not check and to try again later.

Hi noormotani,

There could be a temporary problem with the server but it looks OK for me right now.

I would recommend that you upgrade to NIS 2011 which is a free update with a current subscription. Even if you cannot check subscription status at the moment, NIS will show the number of days remaining at the bottom of the main NIS screen.

Procedure for update to NIS 2011.

If you use Identity Safe you should back up this data first as a precaution. Please see this link for details on how to do this.

Please download the full version of NIS 2011 from here. Please note that this is the English version so please let me know if you need a different language and I will provide the appropriate link.

Also as a precaution, you can get your Norton product key from your Norton Account.

For your protection, disconnect from the Internet before continuing.

If everything is working OK with NIS 2010, you can install NIS 2011 over the top of your current version.

Once installed please reconnect back to the Internet and run Live Update repeatedly (rebooting as requested) until it reports there are no more updates.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.

Allen
