NIS2010 - Prompted my PC is UNPROTECTED

Hi,

I am not too sure if anyone has experience this :-

Ever since updating to version 17.1.0.19 of NIS2010 on mid of Nov.  It has prompted me 3 errors in less than 1 month that my system is UNPROTECTED.

There were no pop up messages but Norton Icon in the System Tray changed to pulsing red with Windows saying that my system is UNPROTECTED.  Even after rebooting, my system is still UNPROTECTED.

I had to use NRT to remove and reinstall NIS2010 THREE TIMES!!!  Each time I scan and there were no malwares.

This has never happened in other versions. I am not too sure what is happening but really 3 errors (for whatever reasons, I do not know)..is unexceptable.

I have not installed any programs recently. Or made any changes to NIS features.  I just don't know what is wrong.

Can Symantec staff give me some comments on this issue.

Thank you

SeaMonster:

Did you not have the option for support, either through Fix Now, or through Help & Support>Get support?

Is there an indication that scans were not running, or pulse update was not working which would have triggered the alert?

Re: NIS2010 - Prompted my PC is UNPROTECTED

The FIX it feature appeared during the error.  I remembered vaguely the first time it happened, I click on the FIXIT Icon, it direct me to the support but I did not proceed any further (I had to "turn off" my internet connection) because I was not protected.  I rebooted my notebook and I removed it and reinstall NIS2010.

The second time it happened, I did not click on fix it, I just quickly run NRT and removed NIS2010 from my system. Reinstall it and all was well.

The same thing happened last night, but this time it prompted me to update my subscriptions.  it says that my subscription has expired and connect me to Symentec website to purchase the subscription.  This was after I click FIXIT. Again, I used NRT and reinstall NIS.

The main interface of NIS2010 says that my subscriptions has expired...which is not true, I still have 413days on my current NIS sub.

The strange thing is all other software in my notebook functioned okay, (except NIS2010's error),

I am puzzled on this....I am not too sure if I am the only one that has encountered this error.  NIS2010 has never given me trouble like this before.  I have not installed, downloaded (except for NRT) anything before errors appeared about 3 weeks ago.

Thank you

Hi Sea_Monster,

Try this fix:

If this does not solve the issue contact Technical Support and explain your situation.

Re: NIS2010 - Prompted my PC is UNPROTECTED

SeaMonster, I don't think we can know what the error is until you allow it to get to support.  You should not be in trouble going only to the Norton support sight.  At this point in time, we don't know if you have an error because of a update connection problem, a glitch in your subscription, or a lack of a full system scan.

You will need to reinstall Norton and then go to customer service chat to correct your subscription.  Perhaps they can assist in tracing the other problem.
