Here's another reason you need to get it fixed. Adobe, in their wisdom, has published that Photoshop and Illustrator have critical security bugs -- that you can only get fixed by paying for CS6 upgrades. Hundreds of dollars.
To be fair, it doesn't sound like preventing internet access will help with the one Photoshop bug, but NIST is being very obscure about how to set off the Illustrator bugs, and it is quite important to have the help here.
I hope at the least that you are implementing a regression test for this issue. I haven't added any extra manual rules; just have a lot of applications, which number has apparently exceeded the magic number for NIS to crash via automatic rules.
Just how insecure has my machine become when the service has failed? I don't want to find out, and reboot immediately when it's happened.
I am really sad that this reveals the trust gained by the recent series of NIS releases now has to be in question.
Having dealt with internal high level support in the past, I am sorry to see that a trustworthy engineering and support operational culture after all hasn't yet been achieved.

Your best bet at this time is to remove 2012 and install 2011. Your subscription of course will still work for the allotted time. It's a shame I know.
I cannot wait to see what reparations will be offered for the massive inconvenience that many of us have had to go through to uninstall and reinstall. I myself have had to do this on SIX machines in this house. My time is NOT free. I have deadlines to deal with and this whole thing has been a big pisser.
I have been a supporter of Norton for most of my life. (I am 54.) And now I have to tell everyone that I know about this simply because the software is not effective...

Tim_Lopez wrote:Hello rh,
It would be great if this could be discussed on the beta forums since it involes the beta.
Well, besides the resizing complaint (I couldn't resist) I was conveying that it appeared to be fixed in 2013. That was an FYI post for those following this thread. I'm still unable to create the issue in 2013, it's working fine. So the hope was that at least a solution had made its way into the code base and might eventually make its way back into 2012.

Am I being ignored?

Despite Tim's efforts and assurances, it seems that WE ALL are ignored. Or that Norton/Symantec is not able/willing to solve this issue. Perhaps they wait for 2013....
In any case, their products do not do what they are supposed to do and what we payed for.
So I think that Norton/Symantec should AT LEAST prolongue the subscription our products for free or give us money back!

Yes, money back, extented subscription time, fair is fair!!!!CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT TIME. ANYONE KNOW A GOOD ATTORNEY!!!Request: everyone save these pages of this thread for future use. Looks like we will be needing them. I myself am sick of getting pushed over to the sidelines anb being ignored.AstroMax wrote:Despite Tim's efforts and assurances, it seems that WE ALL are ignored. I understand why many would be upset. Today is May 21, 2012. The original post on this issue dates back to November 2011.
Six months and more-- and still no fix to this issue.
I returned today to see what the latest program update included and I am not seeing this issue listed as fixed. I do question if this is indeed a complete list because the release notes include this statement
"Some of those changes included" --Does this mean it is not a complete listing?
I paid $79.99 for my yearly subscription update in January/February 2012. Of course this was done while NOT knowing the problem even began back with the 2012 release which I did update to back in October 2011. Sadly, I caught onto this issue when I hit the "magic number" of program control settings.
The fact still remains that I have purchased a subscription update to a seriously flawed release. I am not a happy customer, and if Symantec fixes this issue soon I will continue to use their software, otherwise I am not wasting anymore of my time and I am likely to go with Eset Smart Security, which looks to be the same and even cheaper for me!

You are a lawyer and you have read the license agreement you accepted when you purchased your subscription? If so it might make an interesting case.

Oh, the agreement states that if the services agreed are not supplied Norton cannot be held responsible? If this is the case...
No I am not a lawyer. I am a realist. When I purchase a product with my Hard Earned Money I expect said product to do what it says it does. If not, I would expect to be treated in a fair manner.
