wow, fascinating. I haven't been here for a while after posting my results with 360 many months ago and see this is still not solved?

Symantec, I lost all hope for you and it looks like the last version I've purchased will be/was  v5.

They don't care...  They took our money and running with it...

I'm now using Trend Micro Titanium. Screw this pathetic excuse for an anti-virus... after 6 months and still not a word or attempt to fix it, they don't care.. prob wont be fixed till around october when "2013" comes out.

Re: NIS2012 crashing with changes in firewall

[ Edited ]

Hi Folks,

I won't get into the debate about why this was not fixed in 2012 but for those who may not have noticed in this long marathon thread, Symantec did acknowledge that this bug is fixed in 2013.

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/NIS2012-crashing-with-changes-in-fire...

Therein it was stated that a good fix unfortunately was not available for 2012.

My interpretation of this is not that Symantec did not want to supply a fix for 2012 but that the fix done for 2013 simply would not work for 2012.

Again I just wanted to point this out for those who may not have noticed it.

Best wishes.

Allen

I can't speak for other threads but anyone who reads all the messages in this one will find the statement where Allen pointed to it. I know it's hard to read everything in a long thread before posting and I'm guillty of this sin of ommission myself but the message posted here by Tony Weiss begins with these words:

I've just sent an email to everyone who has reported this issue to the thread .......

and goes on to explain the situation.

Anyone who has dealt with problems will know that sometimes putting a fix in place for the problem itself can lead to instabilty or generate other problems and that it is necessary to wait for the next version.

I know, people have asked about compensation and I certainly understand their feelings; that the upgrade to 2013 does not cost anything does not replace loss of functionality during the interim. Situations like that usually do get resolved, in my experience, but often not in blast of publicity in what is a technical forum <s>

"blast of publicity in what is a technical forum"

This forum is for Norton products (http://community.norton.com  .... your browsers address bar should reflect that). The problem is with a Norton product.

Same answer as before .... discuss things all you want but don't count on an answer from Norton technical Staff on a technical matter. That's been the experience of the last 4 years or so.

But I'm just a volunteer so let me know when you hear something different.

Sounds like even more words from a "Higher Authority".

If this issue is not a concern for you, I am proud for you.

I discovered something else that should interest you.

It would appear this issue was first reported just about eleven months ago, rather than the first post of this current thread.

A silly typo of mine above .... no prize for spotting it should read "... on a financial matter" since I've already shown that they do answer on technical matters.
