what's surprising to me is that mostly NIS folks realize the problem. There was almost no response to the post I made in the 360 section, which I in fact made in this thread originally until it was moved. Maybe people who install 360 do not tinker that much with firewall settings ;)

I just posted the problem to the 360 board because your post is no longer high on the thread list, and I wanted to make sure someone somewhere knew it is 360, too. I think a lot of people buy 360 because they assume it is 100% full protection out of the box, so to speak - which it probably is. I've just never been one to install software and leave it to its own devices. Personally, I didn't really need 360 because NIS has the features I want, but the renewal was on sale at the same price as NIS, and I like the layout of 360 better.

Doesn't matter mate which product you have, the framework doesn't change. 360 is bloatware as far as I'm concerned. It's pretty much NIS 2012 with Norton Utilities intergrated and a different interface and a few other features added. So you posting your problem here is most welcome.
What I don't understand is why it's taking so long to fix something so trivial. It's a stupid bug. It's not like they're developing software to run a space station.

I've been having this issue since i upgraded to NIS 2012, usually reinstall fixes it for a month or so, but it always comes back. It hit me again today but was slightly different this time. Always up till now it was crashing NIS when adding new program, but today it started to crash on trying to acces the program and their permissions list, before i even managed to try and add anything. So i guess i have to reinstall AGAIN and set rules for all my programs AGAIN. It's been happenng for months and you still have no solution. How can i trust you with security of my PC and personal data if you cant even keep your own software running smoothly? Really unprofessional.

As far as UAC is concerned I downgraded to 2011 a long long time ago.

Disabling UAC did nothing for me. Still getting Symantec Service Framework stopped working when trying to access program control.
