I contacted NORTON Chat for a question.. and I wanted to know that if I formatted my PC it counted as a new activation, and they said it was, so when Windows 8 comes out and I'm gonna use it, this counts as 1 activation so I have 1 less on my NORTON Account!

A little bit strange I think cause it's still 1 PC and not a new system (PC/computer) !

They definitely gave you the wrong information. A format doesn't count towards activtations. Never has. As long as its the same hardware.

I have installed NIS 2012 on my dual boot system and it counts as only 1 installation. I confirmed this when I had already installed on my 3 computers and I wanted to try it on a Windows 8 preview. It installed with no problem and accepted the activation.
