Here's my concern about overinstalling.
Symantec/Norton leaves old cruft everywhere on the HD. I am not talking about one or two folders. I am talking about 1) many folders of 2) _hundreds_ of MB each.
Whatever is _needed_, I have no problem with. But to leave a 1/2 GB folder, multiple 1/3 GB folders lying around ... no competent programmer should do that.
I want to be clear that I am _not_ talking about folders in Program Files. I am talking about elsewhere.
If I remove NIS 2011, restart, delete remaining Symantec/Norton/NIS folders, restart, run ccleaner -- and then install 2012, I at least have a chance of getting rid of old cruft that is not used any longer.
