New Build?

I downloaded NIS 17.6.0.32 with the NISDownloader tool today. Of course, it is in English. Is there a Russian-language build yet?

HI nickelback87,

Yes there is. Please see this link. If NIS 2010 English version is already installed you will need to uninstall and resinstall the software in order to have the Russian version. If you have already purchased NIS English version you should check with Symantec Customer Service about how to transfer your license to the Russian version. Unfortunately I do not have a direct link to the Russian version of the program but customer service should be able to help you with that. This link takes you more directly to the NIS product page in Russian.

Also please be aware that if you use Identity Safe you should back up this data before uninstalling your current English version of NIS. Please see this link for details on Identity Safe.

Hope this helps.

Hi nickelback87,

You can find the Russian build (the full installation package) over here, but it is still version 17.5. However, you can run LiveUpdate after installation and it should receive the 17.6 patch; reboot your computer afterwards.

As AllenM said, if you want to switch from English to Russian, please uninstall the English version beforehand after backing up your Identity Safe data and keep your NIS product key ready.

Re: New Build?

Hi Yaso,

Thank you for that link. I'll have to ask you later where you got that. :smileywink:

nickelback87, I don't believe you need to contact customer service to do this since Yaso was able and kind enough to provide the direct link to the Russian version.

Please make sure and note down your product key before you uninstall your current English version. Please check your Norton Account and it will have the full product key there for you.

You can use this product key when you install the Russian version.

Also make sure and download the Russian version of the software first before uninstalling your current version. Then disconnect from the Internet until you have the Russian version installed.

Once it is installed please connect back to the Internet and make sure and run Live Update repeatedly (rebooting as requested) until it finds no more updates.

Re: New Build?

Hi Silverhawk,

You are correct that the link currently still links to 17.5 whereupon one has to run Live Update to get up to the current 17.6.

Hopefully this link will be updated soon.

@ AllenM

Hi Allen

I'm sure you know....How is the 17.6.0.32 NIS exe download/save from here  different from an Installer Pack.

Thanks

Hi bjm_

I'm not sure what you mean by Installer Pack. The link you provided will get you the English version of the product where the OP needs the Russian version. The idea is to have a single unchanging link which will always link to the latest version so we're not having to constantly change links we provide to users, which then would tend to create more confusion. :smileywink:

I should add that there are translations in that link to get to different language versions but we like to provide a standard link regardless of what the latest version is.

The standard links we use for the full version of the products still links to the prior version and we're hoping that gets updated soon. The standard links are direct links to the full version but without the "download manager".

Thanks

Allen

Re: New Build?

Hi AllenM

re> I'm not sure what you mean by Installer Pack

I meant the full 17.6 installers.

I've seen the link I posted offered to users as a source for (English) NIS 17.6...so, I wondered what's the difference...You explained > The standard links are direct links to the full version but without the "download manager".

Ooops! Just had an Intrusion Attempt Portscan...darn things always seem to happen when I'm at the Forum.  Maybe I spend too much time reading threads  :smileywink:

Thanks

Hi bjm_

Yes indeed the link you provided can be used. Again it is just that we like to use standardized links to the extent possible. The other problem I have with using the one with the download manager is that the available translations are a bit hard to read. Some I can make out, where others I'd have to be a linguist to understand! :smileywink:

Without checking out each one individually I also cannot be sure if all of these are updated to point to the latest version either. The English version apparently is but what about all the other combination of products and languages?

Seems easier to just go ahead and install and then just run Live Update to get to the latest version.

Even the ones linked to through the download manager are going to be pointing to the old version for some amount of time after a new version is released. All is a matter of when Symantec gets around to updating all their internal links.
