No Ad Blocker for NIS 2008?

Today I upgraded to NIS 2008 after my previous NIS subscription expired.  I also installed the Ad-On pack for NIS 2008.  I was surprised to see banner ads and animated ads on my screen after the installation.

I just learned from NIS Technical Support that NIS 2008 does not have the Ad Blocker feature.  Why was this discontinued?  What are my options now that I've paid for NIS 2008 specifically to receive Ad Blocking capability that does not exist?

Thanks, in advance, for your response.

During beta there have been many discussions on this subject.
All webbrowser have great ad blockers these days so Symantec decided not to add it for now.

i like the one that comes with the google toolbar for ie, but ff has a plug-in called ad-block plus (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865) that allows for pretty comprehensive tuning and plenty of configuration. if you use ff, i highly recommend it.

I liked the ad blocker in 2007, block all ads and even the ones that run on programs in background, like desktop weather. I can't find one that does that now, don't like adaware.

Please tell me where it is in Internet Explorer -- I've used IE6, IE7 and IE8 Beta and I've not seen it.

There is a third party add-on that can provide it but I'd like to know if it is in fact built into Internet Explorer.

I agree with you. I've used IE7Pro that is a third party add-on (Google on the name) and it works but is more complex to set up and includes so many other features that I regard it as over-kill when all I want is the ad-blocking that the earlier add-on provided.

Can you point me to this? I've used the Google Toolbar with IE for ages and I don't find ad-blocking in it. It offers Pop-Up blocking but for practical purposes that is not the same.

The Norton ad-blocker worked within a webpage to block images from advertising sources even within the window you are using, whereas even Google says its PopUp blocker does not block, for example, most flash ads since they come up in a window.
