Hello,
For the last couple of days I notice this arror has appeared in the SchedLgU.txt log in my Windows Directory.
"Symantec NetDetect.job" (NDetect.exe) 28/07/2012 02:15:00 ** ERROR **
Unable to start task.
The specific error is:
0x80070002: The system cannot find the file specified.
Try using the Task page Browse button to locate the application.
My Internet Security seems to be operating OK so what does this error mean.
I appreciate any help or advice.
Regards,
Connie

Have you upgraded to the 2012 version after having a very old version installed? The NDetect.exe process is no longer part of Norton products but belongs to version almost a decade old.

Hello Bombastus
Thank you for your reply.
I upgraded from 2004 to 2010 a few years ago and then from 2010 to 2012 last year.
If the NDetect is from a version prior to 2010, I wonder why this error has only started to appear in the log over the last few days.
Is there a way of correcting this. ?
Thank you for any advice.
Connie.

Sounds like there are remnants left from the very old version of Norton then. Don't know why it all of sudden started to make itself known, though.
I would suggest a complete uninstallation, first with the usual Start Menu uninstallation, followed by running the Norton Removal Tool, which will ensure a complete removal of the corrupt installation:
First, though, download the installer for NIS 2012 so you have it handy:
After uninstalling, have your activation key at hand, install the fresh version, apply your key, and you should have a new installation without any remnant of the old versions interfering.
