steve,
Hope you get it sorted out.
I noticed in Sunday's Best Buy flyer here in the USA that they are offering a Gateway DX4870-UB21P for which the specs on their website say nothing about AV protection but the flyer page is headed up 6 months of Virus and Spy ware protection are included if 4 logos of different brands including N360.
Here's what the website flyer explains:
With any PC purchase you can choose:
6 months of antivirus protection included for free ($19.99 value)
OR 1 year of antivirus protection for $19.99 (a $39.99 value)
OR Upgrade to a 2-year protection plan for $49.99 ($69.99 value).
Choose from Norton, Kaspersky, Webroot and Trend Micro titles.
So it sounds as if your place may have something similar. If you can extend the subscription and get 1 year for that sort of sum it's as good as one is likely to find here in the USA from legitimate sources.

Hi everybody! Gateway sent me another message that appears to have cleared the problem (the system restore wasn't working). Both Norton and Netflix can be installed using an application recovery program from Gateway that was installed on the computer, so the problem has been solved.
I will add though that I got a retail version of Norton 360 last night, so downloading this trial is no longer needed. Thanks for the support here, I appreciate it. : )

Glad you got it sorted out!

It actually turned out to be just Norton Online Backup, and not Internet Security. But whatever, I'll just go ahead and install Norton 360. : )

Steve,
Glad it is all sorted out .... Sounds like the Gateway restore is of the good type that enables you to select applications or files that came with the original installation and not just a full restore to factory condition.
Do remember to make your own set of recovery DVDs since if you get a full crash or need to change a hard drive you can boot to those and restore -- check them after you make them to be sure they do boot! You should be able to opt out before actually doing anything to the computer.
Don't use the disk you got to install actually N360 since it will be the original release. Just use the Key when needed but remember it wipes out unexpired time so do it a couple of days before expiry.
When you want to install on another computer let us know and we can give you a link to download the most uptodate download from -- you need to say if you have the Standard (2GB free online storage) or the Premier (25GB free online storage) version since they keys are not interchangeable.
