I just re-installed NAV 2008 yesterday, and now when a scan is run, it will hang up on what appears to be a random file, and just sit there for hours without proceeding. Then when I stop the scan, and initiate a new scan, it will hang up on a different file.
If I stop the scan and navigate to the folder containing one of the files that it got hung up on, and right click on the folder and select scan with Norton, it will scan it without any problems.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Is the file you mentioned a zipped one???
I suggest you to upgrade to the latest version of Norton Antivirus which is the 2009 version. If you have valid subscription for the 2008 version, you are eligible for the free upgrade to the 2009 version.
You can uninstall the 2008 version by using the Norton Removal Tool
Then you can download and install the 2009 version from the link http://www.norton.com/nav09

OK thanks. Is the link you gave for the trial version?
And what is the procedure for activating with the existing NAV key? We already have created the Norton Account online, I assume the easiest way is to do that?

On the right bottom of your Norton interface, click on Subscribe Now> Click Enter Subscription renewal code or another product key> Enter your product key>Click Next and then proceed with the activation prompts.

If you remember your password for the Norton account, log on to http://www.mynortonaccount.com and retrieve your product key.
If you have purchased the 2009 product, check you mailbox, you have a confirmation email from Symantec and you can find the product key.
If you bought a CD version of your product, check the CD sleeve, the product key is there!!
If you are not able to find the product key, Open Norton product> Click Help and Support> One Click Support> You can see an option to contact the technical support/Customer service team. They will find it out for you.
You can also contact them using Support

We've uninstalled NAV2008 with the removal tool, and installed NAV2009. Now when a scan is run, the computer locks up. Have to force a powerdown/reboot.
Any ideas?
Thanks

It turns out that if we just let it sit, it eventually gets past what seemed like hang ups, and finishes the scan.
It took almost 6 hrs to do the scan on the hard drive with 40 GB of data.
I am not in front of the computer now, but I was told that during the scan it is doing virus updates every 10 minutes. Is that normal?
Thanks
