Re: Norton ANTI-SPAM button - READER INPUT REQUIRED PLEASE!!!

Hi maureenstaylor,

Have you tried the workaround that I posted earlier? Is that the "fix" you mention?

Today for the first time the fix (client integration) didn't work - I restarted the computer, re-checked the boxes, and still no anti-spam button.  I thought buying the new version would fix it, but alas I was wrong.  Money down the drain.  Do any other antivirus programs have an anti-spam button, so I could switch?

No, I tried the old fix, where you untick two boxes in 'client integration', and this time that one didn't work.  Then I saw your new one, and that did work.  Is it a permanent fix, or do we still have to do it every time we open the program?

You don't need to change the setting when you launch the program, it will remain set for you. Enjoy!

That's great, but it's about time!  Still, better late than never.

Have you tried the new "workaround", if not do so, as it does really seem to work.

Hi Tony,

On the FR forum I created this topic.

In addition to the knowledge base, here is the path for the startup protection:

1- Close OExpress.

2- Verify that the real time protection is not on "Disabled".

3- Establish "Normal".

4- All OK to close.

5- Restart the PC and open OExpress

Example for NIS 2012:

Re: Norton ANTI-SPAM button - READER INPUT REQUIRED PLEASE!!!

Hello Everyone..... Well 5 more days have elapsed and the work around continues to be effective .... At this time, I think it's safe to say that Tony can be credited with a good temporary fix until the root cause that this work around eleviates can be incorporated in to a final downloadable update ...... Thanks Tony.... I'll be back to report in another week or so ......

Re: Norton ANTI-SPAM button - READER INPUT REQUIRED PLEASE!!!

Thanks for the updates, I really appreciate it.

And credit is due to our product team for getting such an effective workaround. This was (and continues to be) a difficult and elusive issue, and our product team was working hard to find the cause. Despite the lack of logging (which was a symptom of the issue), they were able to find a great workaround to the problem. Thanks for your patience.

Re: Norton ANTI-SPAM button - READER INPUT REQUIRED PLEASE!!!

Bad news, unfortunately.  After a little over one week of success since applying the fix, I just launched Outlook Express, and there is no longer an AntiSpam button!  Has anyone else experienced this?????

Re: Norton ANTI-SPAM button - READER INPUT REQUIRED PLEASE!!!

Maybe I "spoke" too soon . . .  I launched OE this morning, and all is well . . . again.  If I encounter another missing AntiSpam icon, I'll (eventually) log off my system, and then log in and launch OE with the hope of solving the issue.
