Re: Norton Anti-Virus 2011 Updates removed my software! Symantec perpetrated a scam!

Hello ovonel

You will find the proper way of posting screen shots in the forum in this link. The forum is not blocking your screen shots, but there is a proper way of posting them. Once you do post them, they then have to be approved by the Forum Mods before they are visible to everyone.

Is it possible that the trial version was improperly removed and therefore the new install did not install properly and what has expired now is the 60 day trial version? I know the number of days remaining will not agree with this, but is it possible?

Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

Re: Norton Anti-Virus 2011 Updates removed my software! Symantec perpetrated a scam!

I'm sorry but I made sure the trial version was off the computer. Have you not read the previous comment where I stated this. Now to disregard any further response. I'd like to answer the gentlemen from Symantec who suggested another Safe Mode scan/removal and then re-intallation. I took your advice on that and it has unfortunately been unsucessful. Here I am with only about 6-months of my service used at 222-days remaining on the Norton subscription clock and yet the Anti-virus is nowhere in sight after a 5-th uninstall/re-install/re-boot. Norton, your workings as software for internet security is great and I congrutalate you on that, however for a simple Anti-Virus program; you've proven to be in latter time under the impression of a scam or subscription scheme which is at the expense of honest computer programmers such as myself and as I've noticed...many others. Any last suggestions?

Could you please clarify what you mean?  Is the program no longer installed on the machine?  You had previously said that an update had removed the program from your PC, but later said  the program was still showing the correct number of subscription days remaining.  Paradoxical statements like that are very confusing.  Remember, we cannot see what you are seeing, and our attempts to help you to determine a cause of the issue will only be as good as the empirical information you can provide about the situation.

The number is shown briefly on the Norton 2011 AV's program screen at the buttom where it says "Subscription Status." One thing I might add is that each time I uninstall and then re-install NAV 2011, the program operates for about 2-12 hours after I re-install giving me the ability to see these things. As soon as Norton run's it's updates, however, the program becomes a ghost and shortly after the desktop gadget which normally shows two buttons saying: :secure and "N" and "arrows"...disappears and the gadget simply gets replaced with a large icon saying Norton. Rendering it useless. Trusty Windows O.S. 7 is always quick to let me know that the anti-virus is missing. So, now...there should be no confusion. Understood?
