I installed Norton AntiVirus 2009 on my Windows XP (SP3) machine.  I had previously set ZoneAlarm Pro so it would not load at start-up, to assure that it would not interfere with the installation of NA 2009.  When I was sure that NA was working correctly and had the latest updates, I started ZoneAlarm.  It came up but when I attempted to have it check for updates my PC locked up.  I had to remove the power cord to shut the machine down (the shutdown button would not work).  I tried reinstalling NA 2009 but it locked up near the end of the installation.  There is definately a conflict between these two programs.  NA 2008 worked perfectly with ZoneAlarm Pro.

Have you installed Norton 2009 product now? Or are you facing installation issue?

 If you are facing an installation issue, can you get me the installer log from the following location?

 XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Norton Installer\Logs

Vista: C:\Program Data\Norton Installer\Logs

You can see a URL.txt inside the folder. Open URL.txt, You can see a string starting with http://errors.norton.com

Please copy the error string and paste here.

This is not an installation issue.  If I disable ZoneAlarm I can sucessfully install Norton AntiVirus 2009.  After installation I ran Live Update to make sure that I had the latest updates.  When I enable ZoneAlarm the system locks up.

To help us diagnose the issue, can you tell us which version of ZoneAlert Pro is on your system?

The version of ZoneAlarm Pro installed on my system is 7.0.483.00.

 The following ZoneAlarm Pro options are turned off:

Email Protection (Inbound and Outbound)

 Cookie Control

 Ad Blocking

 Mobile Code Control

Is that a file within ZoneAlarm Pro??

Version for ZoneAlarm Pro is stated in the subject line as "7.0.483.000"

I like learning, so what is ZoneAlert Pro??

Interesting point, NIS 2009 isn't that much more to pay compared with just NAV, should be cheaper to by one NIS, than, buy NAV 2009 then go and buy ZoneAlarm Pro.

Maybe already had ZoneAlarm Pro for months before going out and buying NIS

Hi w8sdz,

ZoneAlarm Pro 7.0.483 has known compatability issues with NAV 2009. During the NAV 2009 install, you should be alerted that ZoneAlarm is not compatable with NAV 2009. Please see the screenshot below:
