Norton Antivirus "AT RISK!" Problem

So my nortun antivirus 2009 states that I have a risk. So when I click fix now it says that the following:

advanced protection, email in and email out have some kind of problem And when I click "fix now" all the 3 problems don't get fixed. Also in the tray bar my Norton antivirus logo has a small X beside it. This is the second time the problem is happening to me. If anyone knows how to fix it, please let me know. Thanks

Hi, jeet999,

Sorry to see you're having Issues with your Norton 2009 Product.

Please could you confirm a few things for us which will make us better-understand your Issue:

01. Do you have a Firewall installed along-with your Norton AntiVirus 2009, as Norton AntiVirus 2009 does not have a Firewall?  If so, which one?

02. Do you get any Error Messages?  If so, please provide them.  Could you also check in the Security History > Errors to see if this is listed there.

03. What is you Operating System and Service Pack?

04. Do you have any other Security Software installed on your computer?  If so, which Products do you have installed?

Thank-you for your co-operation.

Re: Norton Antivirus "AT RISK!" Problem

Hi,

Thank-you for providing the information asked for.

I think that a Threat is on your computer which is why you can't Fix the "At Risk", so, please could you use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, install, Update, and Run a Full Scan in Normal Mode and Safe Mode, making sure you are dis-connected from the Internet before you Run the Scan.  Please let know how it goes.

Re: Norton Antivirus "AT RISK!" Problem

I would also suggest having a look at the Norton AntiVirus 2009: No Firewall Thread, as there are a list of very good Firewalls you can use with Norton AntiVirus 2009 and Norton AntiVirus 2010.

Re: Norton Antivirus "AT RISK!" Problem

I can't boot the computer in safe mode because when I type msconfig and go under the "BOOT.INI" tab I can't check "/SAFEBOOT". It is greyed out.

Re: Norton Antivirus "AT RISK!" Problem

Download HiJackThis, the third .exe (Executable) Version in the list, run it, creating a Log.  If using Vista, Right-Click and "Run as Administrator".  Please use the "Add Attachments" to Upload it to the Forums.  Doing this will enable us to see what's Running on your computer.  Thanks.

Re: Norton Antivirus "AT RISK!" Problem

Before doing this, I ran 2 scans using the Malwarebytes. The first scan I had to abort but I got 1 infected file. The second one I completed the scan while disconnected from the internet.

Re: Norton Antivirus "AT RISK!" Problem

I would install NIS 2010 but I heard it has a lot of bugs. I'll just wait till what Floating_Red suggests. Thanks for your opinion anyway :)
