Hello!
I am a long time user of Nis and has been extremely satisfied with it the last couple of years. But this 2012 version
is a big disappointment. Its extremely buggy ccSvcHst.exe crashing, menus not opening (Settings Tab). Much more
impact on performance then 2011 version. The whole operation of the program is laggy. Sidebar also opens very slowly.
Strange that this bugs exists because the program has been beta tested for a long time. It seems that the 2012
is released to early.
I hope the Symantec engineers are working hard on this issues because i see a lot off people having these bugs.
This is a step backwards for Norton i have used all version for 2009-2011 whit out a single problem.
So after installing 2012 version all the problems was a quit a chock didn't expect it.
Also had a lot of false positives.
Kind Regards

Sounds more like a buggy installation. I and most others don't have crashes or the other problems you describe. On the contrary, NIS 2012 is fast and more snappy than NIS 2011, and 100% stable so far. Maybe you should try a complete uninstallation with the removal tool and reinstall the program after that, in case something went wrong when you upgraded/installed the first time.

This seems yet another instance of how varied the responses to installations of new or upgraded software can diversely affect users !
Like Bombastus...I too have had no negative impact on performance ...only a minor inconvenience with System Mechanic being "flagged " as a possible conflict ! Having disabled "Idle Optimization " in my settings..I have had none of the conflict that some users have suggested that could be caused by other vendor Defrag engines placing defragged files in locations that differ from Norton's idea of suitable file placement !
Everything else has been as it was in NIS2011 ...and in some areas I have found it more efficient and "zippier " .
I am sure Norton techs are noting the feedback from the users who are finding that they are experiencing negative effects after upgrade ...and proves the value of community forums have in bringing these issues to the notice of developers etc;
As an advanced user ...you will be aware of how certain software can take objection to the "living in harmony " with other software programming ....Have you anything onboard such as "Rapport " which some users have noted as a possible conflict..or any other scanning engine that may be causing a "glitch " !

A short answer is No. And i agree to everything you say. But the problems still exists.
I probably will install Nis 2011 again to the problems are solved. Nis 2011 work smooth
as silk and the 2012 version will probably do this also when the bugs are sorted out.
Kind Regards

I agree with every single line. This is most GUI buggy Norton of all times
For example I need to click two or more times on Setting or Performance to perform setting or view Performance or tasks
Symantec!

I find it disturbing that people are citical of software but then do not take the trouble to document the reproducable steps to their issue. I cannot say the program is bug free, maybe there are bugs but then if you think so, surely the sensible approach is to detail your operating system, the software installed and operating, and the steps to reproduce the issue.

Yes, it's disturbing when loyal customer like me report GUI bug in final version and I was reported same bug in beta version.
Now, abaout reproducing problems. How can I write step by step reproducing when Norton simple refuses to execute command when I click on sometnihg from main window??

The more I read the more I'm convinced that NIS2012 is better than ever. Even after testing on several hundreds or thousands of machines there are still users with hardware and software configurations that the staff hasn't seen. Because of this the program isn't perfect. The best way to help improve it is to detail what is wrong and how one of the staff can reproduce the problem on a machine that also has the safeguards and recorders to allow them to see what's happening. That will give them a starting point for determining how to fix the problem if it really is a problem. There may also be some systems out there that may not be Norton compatible at this time because of hardware or software.
Perhaps the first person who has never made a mistake will step up and condemn all those who did their best to make the product as error and bug free as they knew how to make it. Until that happens I suggest that tose who find problems report and document them so that the necessary fixes can be accomplished. If you won't help fix it don't bother to complain about it.
